Matthew Watson, CEO, STN Video

Matthew Watson served as the Chair and CEO of STN Video (formerly SendtoNews), an award-winning online video platform that solves digital video for publishers, content creators, and advertisers, from June, 2015 to June, 2024. STN Video was born out of disruption. Founded by a traditional newsroom broadcaster who saw news publishers struggle to get video content onto their digital properties, Matthew initially assisted the founder with strategic planning.  When the company failed to get traction in the market and was still pre-revenue, Matthew was invited to join in 2015.   Matthew pivoted STN from a SaaS model to an ad supported model, and initiated a “partneriffic”  approach to business.   Under Matthew’s leadership, STN focused on building an industry leading online video platform that included award winning technology (including Smart Match, an AI enabled automatic video selection and embedding tool), and built the largest sports video content portfolio in the world by partnering with the industries leading official content creators (including MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, MLS, PGA Tour, F1…) and other tier 1 content creators like Draft Kings, FanDuel, NBC, Fox….  The pivot disrupted the model of how publishers, content providers and advertisers engage users and maximize revenue with digital video.  By August 2018, STN had become the largest online sports video platform by delivering those services, along with monetization, to over 2000 publishers including the NY Post, Sports Illustrated, Post Media, USA Today.

That foundation has kept STN Video on the cutting edge of the digital video industry and has allowed the tech company to deliver a transformative service. Innovations include an artificial intelligence powered video player (Smart Match) designed to be the fastest and easiest way for publishers to get monetized video onto their sites, extending live-streaming opportunities for content partners like the PGA TOUR, MLB, NFL  to over 2000 publishers, and bespoke, contextually relevant ad campaigns for brands that have delivered record conversions.

STN Video wants to help all its partners thrive using digital video. Digital publishers need a reliable online video platform that reduces costs, increases revenue and keeps users on page. Content providers needed to get their videos in front of more audiences than just their owned and operated properties. Brands and advertisers needed trustworthy, contextual relevant and brand safe environments for their creatives.
